We found a skatepark nearby that will allow Christian to ride around. Its actually 4 and up, but they said since he can skate he can come. Ryan and I are both clueless when it comes to this sport. We figured it would be best if at least one of us knew a little bit about it so we can help Christian along the way. Ryan drew the short straw. We went to Zumies and bought him a skateboard on Friday. The very next day we all went to the skatepark. Christian did really well, as expected. We laughed at Ryan a lot.
Here is Christian's new trick:

On the way home, we stopped by my dad's to talk to my brother about the day. (he skateboards) While we were there, Ryan attempted to go off the curb into the ditch. He went off, sure enough. He felt like a hero, until he realized his knee was behind his head... literally. He is still feeling the effects of that one.
That night, while Christian was taking a bath, the boys had a conversation about their new shared interest. It went a little something like this...
Ryan: So, we are pretty crazy now. We live a crazy lifestyle, ya know?Christian: *splash*
Ryan: Crazy people are fearless. That's what we are... fearless. We ride skateboards. Crazy! Just crazy!
Christian: *splash, splash*
Ryan: So, we are both really cool now. We are nuts!
Christian: Yeah, I like nuts.
Ryan: We pretty much do things that other people wish they can do. We both are just nuts!
Christian: Does Momma like nuts?
Ryan: Man, we are really awesome. Really awesome.
Christian: Do you like nuts?
On Sunday, we went with my brother to ride around at a local kids' park. There is a big ditch there that a lot of kids skate around in. Mark and Christian did really well. Ryan used the left side of his body as a board and slid all the way down the hill. Later, he fell down the slope while walking. He says its because he has new shoes. I almost needed a diaper after seeing all of his accidents! I couldn't stop laughing!
Christian had some spectators (kids) come by to watch him. He walked over to them, with his hand on his hip, and said "Is I pretty good? You want to watch me again?". They all knodded. He would've passed out autographs if they had asked! He loved all the attention and publicity.
Here are some pics from the kids' park where the boys skated around in the ditch:
(Yes. I know there has been a recall on baby slings. This one is netted, so there is not a suffocation risk.)

He is so dang cute! And talented!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, he is so the next Tony Hawk or Sean White or whoever else is a good skater! That is the coolest thing! My brother skates too.
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm glad y'all found a place that will actually let him skate!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA! I can't even imagine how you even begin trying to learn skateboarding as an adult! Funny stuff, man.
Oh and I love your PSA about the baby sling!
