We went on a little excursion yesterday and ventured down the street behind our neighborhood. This is the place that Ryan has dubbed "The Town that Time Forgot". On our journey we spotted multiple tractors, corn fields, old brick buildings, and farm animals. It reminds me of going out to our farm. We stopped to take pictures at the old bank and a man named J.R. came out to greet us. He was a very friendly older man, even brought out some toy dump trucks for Christian to play with, and seemed to know all about the little town's history. He told us that Bonnie and Clyde had stopped in the very spot we were standing to eat ice cream, but never did rob their bank (I researched this and found it to be true).
J.R. invited us to watch his son train their horses. Christian was more interested in his chickens, though. He likes to torment them. Ryan and I promised to come back and are even going to start purchasing eggs from them. It sure beats paying $7 a carton for our usual grain fed organic cage-free eggs. J.R.'s eggs are all of the above and only $1 a dozen! Can't beat that!
We really want to check out the 200 year old cemetery!

We brought our bulldog, Hemi, with us thinking he needed the exercise. He barely made it down the street before calapsing. Ryan had to run him back home. When we returned he had exploded from both ends all over the laundry room! I had to make dinner, get both kids cleaned and in bed, and make lunches for the following day. Since Ryan couldn't think of any excuses he got clean-up duty. Poor guy!
This is actually the site on the railroad tracks where all the materials to start building Mansfield were dropped.
This bank was spared by Bonnie and Clyde, though they did have ice cream next door.
It closed during the Depression.
